Learning to Drive

Learning to Drive

On our first day back to school we went to the Leinster Driving Campus. Our class was split into groups of 15 and 14. My group was then split into 5 groups of three and we then picked our cars. Our instructor Sylvester taught us about the car for about ten minutes so we had a little bit of knowledge before we started to drive. It took a while to adjust the seat and steering wheel for me as I'm tiny! After that I actually got to drive the car around a little course with traffic lights and roundabouts. After that we had a quick lunchbreak and then we went into a prefab and in our groups of three we took a mock theory test. Then we went outside and put on 'beer goggles' and had to move cones around and high five our instructor. We did this as it showed us how our depth perception was completely altered by these goggles which was would happen if we were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The point of this was to show us that we should never drive under the influence due to the lack of depth perception which determines how far away from cars and pedestrians we are when driving. All together I had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend to others.Image result for leinster driving campus                                          Image result for leinster driving campus

Temple Street Ball

                                                             Temple Street Ball

On the 20th of March  I attended a Temple Street Ball at the Westgrove Hotel in Clane. This was a black tie event so all the girls wore long evening dresses while the boys wore tuxedo's. Sarah McEvoy organised the whole thing to help raise money for Temple Street. She also organised prizes for the rafle which were quite good as one of the big prizes was an xbox. Most of us danced for the whole night and I had an amzing night.

Oscar Nominated Movie: Into the Woods

                                                      Into the Woods

This movie is nominated for three Oscars: Best Supporting Actress, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.

A couple of weeks ago I went and saw this movie with my Dad and sister. To be honest, I really didn't enjoy this movie at all! The first 15 minutes was a full song that was sung throughout the whole movie. I thought the plot was uninteresting and just really boring. Although, the casting directors did an amazing job as they had a brilliant cast of James Corden, Johnny Deep, Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Emily Blunt. This was James Corden's first big appearance in a high profile movie and I though he did a really good job and I think his movie career looks bright.

I was quite surprised that this was nominated for three awards. Meryl Streep was nominated for Best Supporting Actress from this movie. She played the wicked witch in the movie. Like all her other movies her acting was superb but I don't think this script was suited for her specifically. I really don't think that this character maybe didn't deserve a nomination for this Oscar although Meryl is an unbelievable actress.

One thing I do agree with is the nomination for Best Costume Design. The costumes in this movie were so well done. They gave the movie the mythological feel. This is the one thing I actually liked about the movie and I can definitely see why theses costumes were nominated for an Oscar. My favourite costume was probably Meryl Streeps.

The other nomination they received was for Best Production Design. I also agree with this as the Dark Forest is an amazing set piece. Everything in this forest was done perfectly and gave the perfect illusion of a dark  forest.

New York City

New York City
When I leave school I want to visit the city of New York. To me the city has en-captured my curiosity since I was a young child, the pictures of the glittering building lights at night has always made me enchanted by the Big Apple. The stories of the buzzing streets and hot dog stands have filled me with excitement to go to the amazing city. I can not wait to visit the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building even though I am petrified of heights. And of course go shopping in the streets of Madison Avenue and shop for hours in Barneys and Abercrombie&Fitch. New York City is definitely top of places to visit!

Liverpool

Liverpool

A lot of people don't know this about me but I am really interested in football. My favourite team is obvisouly Liverpool. When I was a kid I used to switch who I supported based on who was winning like any other kid. But when I was about seven I started to support Liverpool and I've stuck with them ever since.
My favourite thing to do on a Sunday is go to the pub for some food and to watch their matches. There is no better feeling when you see the ball hit the the back of the net and the whole room jumps up in excitement fists clinched and when you see everyone's face light up with joy, it's the best!

My favourite player is the captain Steven Gerard. When I was about 11 I read his autobiography about his life. When he was a boy he played at his hometown team of Whiston Juniors when he was noticed by Liverpool scouts. he joined the Liverpool Academy at the age of nine. He finally signed a professional contract with Liverpool in November 1997 and the rest is history. Gerard has always been interesting to big clubs like Real Madrid but he always stayed at the Anfield as that is where his heart is. Gerard has become a Liverpool legend and always has a place in our hearts.
Unfortunately I have never been to the Kop but it is one of my dreams to go and watch the boys at Anfield sometime soon I hope!
